Fresco with Roy Forbes "Last Orders"

"Fresco's new album Last Orders is the latest to present the unique vocal talent of Roy Forbes.

"His musical background, which included thirteen years as a member of Andy Hamilton's Blue Notes, has always favoured the terrain of the jazz standard as eloquently demonstrated on his previous albums, Going Home and Telma. Considering also his artistic track record of live performances with his own quintet, and with the likes of David Murray, Scott Hamilton, Spike Robinson, Jean Toussaint and Jason Rebello at numerous venues and jazz festivals in the UK and abroad, this leads you to appreciate that Roy is a popular, top quality artist.

"Last Orders marks a significant venture for Roy Forbes and the group of jazz musicians who call themselves Fresco.

"For a start the core of the album features original songs by Roy, Graham Dent and myself, and springs from a relationship playing jazz and writing together for many years.

"Graham's contribution is particularly important when you consider his own song-writing, playing and studio mixing skills, as well as the planning, designing and leadership to complete this project. His creativity runs through this album like the writing through a stick of rock.

"For my part, as a saxophonist and composer, Last Orders has provided me with a musical platform full of challenges and opportunities which I have valued tremendously over the past couple of years.

"The contributions of other members were no less important. Bass work was provided by the ever popular Mike Green, a favourite choice around Birmingham and a regular in the Roy Forbes Quintet line-up.

"Drums and percussion were supplied by Steve Street, whose professional credits are too numerous to mention here, but is again a much in-demand player, and thankfully a regular in the band.

"Add all of this together and you get Last Orders. Enjoy."
